Stephanie Gnibus

With nearly 30 years of experience in news reporting and high-tech public relations for startup and Fortune 500 companies, Stephanie Gnibus is an expert media strategist, corporate image builder, media coach, and the guiding force of GMK Communications. Over the span of her public relations career, Stephanie has established and built business and consumer technology brands, launched hundreds of high-tech companies, products and services, and media trained more than 50 high-profile executives.

Stephanie founded GMK because the basic PR model couldn’t adapt to the rapid changes taking place within the tech and media landscapes. She envisioned a small, nimble agency of senior professionals who would take part in all aspects of the PR process. Instead of having VP’s managing underlings who do the bulk of client work, Stephanie wanted team players willing to keep their media skills sharp and directly apply their decades of knowledge to achieve the best possible results while giving press the stories they want.

Today, Stephanie remains true to her vision for GMK. She is as hands on as ever, finding ways to streamline processes so that she can spend her days doing PR, rather than just talking about it. She leads by example; she’s on the phone with reporters everyday and works closely with each client across GMK’s highly selective portfolio, defining strategy and securing thousands of media placements since founding the agency.

Starting with GMK’s first client in 1999, Stephanie was responsible for launching Internet luxury retailer, heading a team that secured 500 million impressions and 30 speaking engagements in less than nine months. She also devised and oversaw one of the most innovative and effective Internet promotional campaigns: the Million Dollar Ashford Diamond Giveaway. The five-month charity/celebrity promotion generated more than 80 million broadcast and print impressions. Stephanie remains as active with press, committed to results, and highly strategic today as she did during that storied initial launch.

Before breaking out on her own, Stephanie directed the public relations activities of PointCast Incorporated, establishing the company as one of the hottest Internet brands of 1996 and 1997. Under her leadership, the public relations team secured more than 9,000 article placements, 250 broadcast stories, 80 top industry awards and 80 speaking engagements.

Prior to PointCast, Stephanie led media relations efforts of high-tech clients Apple Computer, Applied Materials, and Merix Corporation for the public relations firm, PRx. Stephanie laid the foundation of her public relations career as a broadcast journalist, spending nearly five years as a television news reporter, producer and anchor at NBC affiliate, KULR, in Montana.

Stephanie has served on the advisory boards of ConsumerREVIEW and WishClick. Stephanie graduated from U.C. San Diego with a bachelor of arts in Communications and a minor in Sociology..
